Moët & Chandon, Grand Vintage 2016, Champagne, France
A wine loved by royals and celebrities alike, it holds a Royal Warrant to King Charles lll and has been referenced by such diverse musicians as Queen and The Notorious B.I.G. Grapes for the 2016 vintage were ripened under turbulent conditions which significantly reduced the yield. Ripe aromas of yellow plum and quince are complemented by cereal, brioche and gingerbread notes. It is dry, supple and medium-bodied on the palate, with a tangy, clementine finish.
Moët & Chandon, Rosé Impérial, Champagne, France
A blend of approximately 45% Pinot Noir, 35% Meunier and 15% Chardonnay, one third of which is made from specially selected reserve wines to enhance its complexity and depth. The nose exudes aromas of strawberry and tangy redcurrant, alongside rose, white pepper, pastry and a touch of mint. The palate has refreshing grapefruit-like acidity with delicate, frothy bubbles and a pure red fruit finish.
Domaine Fournier Pere et Fils, Pouilly-Fumé, ‘Les Deux Cailloux’, 2022 (Magnum), Loire, France
A cool climate Sauvignon Blanc from vines grown on the three central communes of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. Served from a Magnum, this wine has a star bright but pale lemon colour and a shimmering greenish hue. The nose is still youthful despite its three years of age, showing stony and saline-tinged aromas of grapefruit, lemon peel, bergamot and under-ripe peach. Bone dry and medium-bodied, it combines cleansing acidity with a well-rounded mouthfeel in a mineral-laced citrus finish.
Concha y Toro, Pinot Noir, ‘Amelia’, Valle del Limarí, 2021, Chile
Crafted by Marcelo Papa from Pinot Noir grown along the northern banks of Chile’s Limarí River, this wine is shaped by its coastal influence uninterrupted by mountain ranges, and the region’s distinctive red clay soils, rich in stone and calcium carbonate. It has been fermented with around 40% full clusters in open-top vats and matured in Burgundy oak barrels, 18% of them new, for one year. The result is a Pinot Noir with a lean, focused structure. On the nose, it delivers concentrated aromas of cherry, spice, and hints of dried rose petal. The palate is silky and refined, supported by compact, elegant tannins that speak to its coastal origin and mineral-rich terroir.
Moët & Chandon, Nectar Impérial, Champagne, France
This slightly sweeter version of Impérial shows a golden hue in the glass, exuding tropical aromas of pineapple and mango, with ripe plum and apricot. Built around the structure of Pinot Noir, it is both refreshing and expressive with hints of malted biscuit and vanilla revealed on the surprisingly complex palate.
