Win champagne brunches and a designated driver – competition courtesy of The Driver

The Driver - private chauffeur service DubaiYou’re out for dinner, you’ve had a few drinks, your car is with you and you realise you really can’t drive home. Sound familiar? Well that’s where new service, The Driver, comes in. Give them a call, and a driver rocks up to drive you and your car home – just allow a couple of hours notice, especially at peak times. The service is 24/7, with experienced, qualified drivers.

Here at FooDiva we have partnered with The Driver in association with Pernod Ricard Gulf to give away two prizes for a champagne-fuelled brunch (each for two people) with their drivers to return you and your car back home. Sit back, listen to your own music, and let the driver get you home, safe, sound and stylish.

So what exactly is up for grabs for FooDiva readers in Dubai?

  1. Our first prize is the newly launched Friday brunch at Peruvian restaurant COYA in the Four Seasons. Gorge on ceviche and taco cooking stations, whilst hot plates aka main courses and desserts are served at the table – allowing you and a friend to indulge in champagne, French of course.
  2. Meanwhile our second prize is the New Orleans brunch at Ruth’s Chris steakhouse in the Address Dubai Marina where it’s all about unlimited meaty a la carte dishes served at the table, with free-flowing (French) champagne – for two people.

With both prizes a driver will drive you and your car back home.

Me and my husband are corporate professionals and work crazy long hours but in our down time, food is something we both bond on, as both of us live to eat literally.
This competition from food diva looks like a perfect way I can spoil my man silly, i’m already imagining the reaction on his face when I take him to Coya as that’s one of his most favorite restaurants in Dubai.

Looking forward to hearing a positive reply from you guys soon.

    Lots of Love
    Vinita Hirani

P.S. Amazing job on the food reviews and the website !!!

The perfect dining experience is the laughter of my friends and I as we indulge in food that makes our mouth water and drink concoctions that make us swoon. Nights to live for! =) xx

  6. David March 10, 2016 at 11:52 am

Because I love trying out new food experiences and the Peruvian brunch sounds divine. And fabulous that I can try it with the accompanying champagne without guilt about drinking and driving.

  8. Mariam March 10, 2016 at 1:39 pm

    The ambience and people!

  9. Shanti March 10, 2016 at 2:59 pm

I love trying out new cuisines and ingredients – and with the plethora that Dubai offers with its dining out scene, it is very exciting. I think eating out is more about the experience than just the food – its about the ambience, the company and the service. My husband is great company because he and I both love to try out new cuisines and fine dining is something that usually offers the other two aspects. and it would be amazing to have some delicious food froma cuisine I’ve never tried (I’ve heard so much about Coya) to go with that.

There are so many factors which can make a dining experience so memorable.
Good service is high on the agenda Not coming to the table every 2 minutes to check all is ok. The lighting needs to create an ambiance…but not be too dark so we can’t read the menu. The food….the drink….the setting…..the music….and last but not least the company i’m with! Mix it all together and you’ve got the perfect dining experience 🙂

A meal that my husband and I can finish without the children asking for 100 things, jumping out of their seats or spill their drinks all over them 🙂 Now on an evening without the kids, a perfect dining experience is waiters that understand and can recommend items on the menu, an interesting wine list, the food arriving at the right temperature and I find the charm of the old fashioned piano with piano player in the background (I know, difficult to find one in Dubai) just add the perfect touch.

A perfect dining experience is pretty hard to find these days in Dubai, as we hate this current ‘fashion’ of loud music/DJ’s in restaurants. So it would have to be somewhere that has proper background music in order for me to hear my wife and friends etc when we’re talking at the table. People who think that a restaurant must have a DJ to create atmosphere is deluded and has probably never been to a proper restaurant, which simply creates it’s own atmosphere.
It would also have to have proper service by attentive people who are properly trained in the art of food service. Most Dubai venues don’t do this, simply choosing to employ the cheapest person and then giving them very basic ‘training’. How can someone who hasn’t experienced proper food service able to understand the needs of their customers? Finally and most importantly the quality, taste and presentation of the food has to be amazing for it to be the perfect dining experience. I’d love to know any of your recommendations in Dubai that fit this bill?

A nice meal out with my husband in a lovely restaurant makes going out a wonderful occasion, as we very rarely get to go out on our own without our 5 year old.
A great atmosphere, impeccable service, plus the obvious delicious food and drink, make it the all round perfect experience!

  14. Yasmine March 14, 2016 at 5:05 pm

As a diner, what makes a dining out experience perfect for me first and foremost is wonderful food. But of course, it isn’t just about the food, the experience as a whole is about the atmosphere, the attention to detail by the staff, enjoyable conversation and sharing a meal with others, whether it be in a casual experience or fine dining setting. The measure of success is always that feeling of contentment as you sit and chat while you anticipate the arrival of your food, and of course on your departure.

Ideally when seated, I’ll also be served something to nibble on such as some warm crusty bread, prawn crackers, or guacamole and that way I can appease my eagerness to order or for the arrival of my food. This also buys me time in allowing me to assess my food choices off the menu and make the most perfect selection!

Often my relationship with the server significantly contributes to a great dining out experience, someone who you can ask for a recommendation and can have a bit of banter with and who overall understands you and your mood!

The ultimate indicator of a perfect dining experience? Planning your next visit and menu choices for that visit before you’ve even left!

The “dining out” has so many elements for me.

The experience starts from when I read about a venue and when I get excited by what I read, it then proceeds to whom I want to share the experience with.

Its about the excitement of being seated at the table and taking in the aura of the restaurant and hearing the perfectly selected music in the background. Its the welcoming feeling you get from the staff to when you sense the passion of the sommelier and/or chef if they choose to stop by your table.

Its making the perfect selection of cocktail/drink and then listening to excitement of the specials or recommended dishes by the server and then making my choice for the meal. The conversation, laughter, ambiance and mood of the people who are all seated at the same table all play an integral part.

Its seeing the meal for the first time and cutting right through it. Its about the first bite and the second . . . until its all over.

Dining out is such a beautiful experience for the mind for me. Its about choosing to do it and experiencing all the elements that have been so carefully thought out. Its all in the details but most importantly its about sharing the moments of being there with someone else and feeling alive.

Love dining out to try out new cuisines and experience new food….not forgetting, I don’t have to wash the dishes! Also love bringing those experiences home to try them out in my own kitchen ?

  17. Michael Angelo March 20, 2016 at 11:22 am

Amazing food, great ambiance and of lovely company!

  18. Eve Moore March 20, 2016 at 9:52 pm

Having a good choice and variety of food rather than having to think of what to cook!

  19. Reshma Tony March 22, 2016 at 1:20 pm

Great innovative food and service with an ambience and vibe to match, is what we look out for on a dining out experience! As much as my husband and I love trying out new restaurants and experiences a good establishment which maintains its standards and quality will always draw customers with good taste back time and again!

  20. Aneesha Rai March 22, 2016 at 2:52 pm

The ambience, the attention to detail, scrumptious,well-presented, novel food, a spiffing bottle of red wine, and of course, swell company in the form of my best friends.

  21. Rahel Urech March 22, 2016 at 4:21 pm

Eating out should be an unforgettable experience for all senses – eyes, ears, nose, tongue and hands – completed by professionalism and quality. In combination with the lovely company of my husband, this is what makes a dining out experience perfect to me.

  22. Iris Dias March 22, 2016 at 5:32 pm

The perfect meal doesn’t necessarily have to include the best food. Good company, that’s key. Mediocre food is elevated if the company is above average.

  23. Nicaela March 22, 2016 at 8:36 pm

The perfect dining experience – will always be the one with the cuisine you’ve never tried before. The enthusiasm when you see the waiter bringing your food and the smell that kicks in thrilling your taste buds. But .. All is extra perfect if shared with family and friends xx

  24. Ma Levilee Guerra March 23, 2016 at 2:40 pm

The food! – I want it to bring me to a new, completely different world/dimension!

  25. Kamla March 26, 2016 at 10:36 am

For me, food always takes the centre stage when it comes to dining out. If the food isn’t good, it doesn’t matter if the other things are.

  26. Anita March 26, 2016 at 10:49 am

The company makes everything, even if the food is wow and your company is not so great, you are bound not to enjoy the experience.

  27. Rekha Raju March 26, 2016 at 1:38 pm

An experience is perfect only when you have great food, great company, great ambience and some really great conversations! Having a driver to take you home after you’ve had too many drinks, that’s a big bonus as well!

  28. Hridya Gopinath March 26, 2016 at 9:45 pm

When he told me he was taking me out to that diner that I kept raving about, I couldn’t contain my excitement! My bottle-green knee-length dress was dry-cleaned; I had the perfect black heels and a matching clutch to go with it. I rescheduled my hair appointment for Thursday.

He picked me up with flowers that spoke the words “…’cause my special someone deserves a special something.” I glided into the passenger seat. It was his turn to drive and those heels were worth it.

The diner, as expected, was warm and inviting, with a crispy tone of smart elegance that I’d never tasted before. The interiors blended harmoniously with the light music that lingered in the air at just the right dBs. My incorrigible foodie side perked up as the menu was handed down, but my questions were surprisingly met with an equally knowledgeable waiter whose wit and vibe felt like the hand that rocked our dining cradle.

‘Will it be a cab this time or should we call Anand?’, I asked him. ‘Neither’, he answered with a smile. And with a wink he added, ‘TD’s gonna take care of our ride tonight’. TD or The Driver underscored our perfect night of dining out, that left us laughing like out of an advert video.

The next day, the cringing sounds of my alarm drowned out the last of the chuckles as I woke up. As I geared up for another day of mundane routine, the dream came screaming back to me and I had to think – ‘Oh well, that sure would have been THE perfect dining experience!’

  29. Eva March 28, 2016 at 7:04 pm

a recipe for a “perfect dinning experience” includes few components … perfectly prepared food with a passion , drinks that compliment it, great service and company, dimmed lights , subtle music, beautiful interiors or outdors … it all allows me to feel peaceful , comfortable and special 🙂 .. I am sure all those components will also make your dining experience perfect.
