A good brunch for me is when there is not only great food, a wide selection of choices and impeccable service! Of course, it’s also an added bonus if they have a raw/sushi bar! 🙂

A good Brunch is not just about the food, while the variety and quality of the cuisine is not to be dismissed, a good brunch is so much more than that. It should be cheerful, sociable and inciting with a little dash of bizarre mixed in. It is conversation compelling, It puts you in a good mood, it makes you satisfied with yourself and your fellow beings, it sweeps away the worries, stresses and cobwebs of the work week that so many of us experience here in Dubai. As a person who commutes daily between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, a good brunch to me is better than a relaxing massage, as it entices all 5 of our senses at once. For 3 hours you can completely forget about the worries of the world.

A good brunch is defined by its social ambience as much as what’s on the menu or your plate! Great service and knowledgeable staff also help as brunches usually tend to include food not always from a menu similar to the regular menu of the outlet-which can leave staff confused and not very helpful if not trained well.

Being a big music fan, what makes a brunch good for me is definitely the live entertainment. A three-piece live jazz band playing all the classics and hits can add a lot to a brunch. As there’s no better way to enjoy top-end creations by talented chefs than with good live music.

I also prefer brunches where food is served to the table. Since this means that you’ll be getting freshly made dishes straight from the kitchen. In addition to the food freshness element, the a la carte brunch is a great way to control portions and to prevent overeating!

In my opinion, a live band is an essential part of any brunch. So is the standard of the food served 🙂

Id say having any meal spent with the people you love would always turn out to be a great experience. Then again, food-wise, a great brunch for me would consist of the three ultimate favorites: bagels, steamed dimsums and pasta! These are great carbo to burn for the rest of the day, a comfortable food to ease up before a hectic schedule and just everybody’s love!

  6. Roland September 30, 2015 at 2:46 pm

Brunch is about enjoying quality food and drink with friends and family in a fun social environment which offers a comfortable atmosphere, supplemented with excellent service and lasting memories!

  7. Rosanna September 30, 2015 at 5:40 pm

To me its a combination of great company, serene atmosphere/ambiance, a wide selection of courses (preferably served at the table in tester portions and one can always order more) desserts should be a walkover theme … along with a selection of assorted drinks.

  8. Cindy Valera September 30, 2015 at 6:45 pm

A good brunch for me is ala carte. Food is not wasted and attention to detail, such as quality of ingredients used, how it’s cooked and the craftiness of the chef is to behold! Unlimited pairings is a must, and a great company makes a great brunch.

  9. Abbie October 1, 2015 at 7:52 am

To be very straightforward, a good brunch starts from the place itself. Yes, the food is the most important, but the ambience and atmosphere where the brunch is at matters a lot to me since it helps really set the overall mood. Another thing is variety, not talking about how they should have all the selections in the world but that they have a variety of the staples and that they’re able to make it their own by infusing the food with their personal touch, an identity. As much as I would love to eat the same food every time, when going brunch I would always want to look at how food places always put their own twist at things making the dine-in memorable for me.

A good brunch formula = fresh food + good wine + great company + cool music + devine location

  11. Vinka Manshani October 1, 2015 at 8:56 am

Brunch helps me to relive previous weeks stress and charge me up for the coming week. So I like my brunch to be the best. The ambiance, service, and most importantly, the food everything should be perfect.

  12. Molara October 1, 2015 at 9:05 am

The most important factor for a good brunch is the ambience, it must be cheerful yet relaxing to unwind and forget about the stress of your workweek, also the food variety must be really wide, special and different, something that would make you look forward to it from Sunday. Also, a brunch is never complete if you dont have great company, your significant other, your family or your friends, the ones you really missed having quality time during the week, brunch is the right time to unwind, forget your worries, restore your energy and rekindle good vibes, energy and emotions too <3

  13. Mhd Zaher October 1, 2015 at 9:36 am

A good brunch offers a wide selection of healthy and delicious dishes served in a relaxing and cheerful ambience. It is best spent with family. 🙂

  14. Cristina Kristensen October 1, 2015 at 9:49 am

A good brunch is about sharing. About social interaction. Sitting down at a table with friends, family or even acquaintances you might only know vaguely through you friends. By sharing stories and experiences over a meal you create an intimate bond with the people at your table and at the end of the meal, you are a wiser friend.

  15. Marites Dughmash October 1, 2015 at 9:49 am

A good brunch is a combination of a wide selection of dishes, drinks and desserts in a cheerful and beautiful setting.

  16. Bregje October 1, 2015 at 10:08 am

A good brunch brings it all together, nice location with comfy seats and nice environment, amazing and well presented food, great drinks and most of all fantastic atmosphere. It’s a treat, something to look forward to! Especially spend with good friends, eating, drinking and chatting without any hurry!

  18. Corinne October 1, 2015 at 10:36 am

A good brunch is made by fab food, great service and stunning location.

  19. Minna October 1, 2015 at 11:13 am

It’s been ages I have brunched in Dubai. I am probably anti brunch person, because I want quiet, no noise, eye resting athmosphere. No need to have alco but has to have ready thought healthy options, cause I have no willpower what so ever. I do not want to feel quilty after brunch.

  20. Mel October 1, 2015 at 11:20 am

A good brunch is about quality food (not quantity), atmosphere (lovely surroundings, good crowd) and music that’s not too loud.

We’ve been disappointed historically when the music has been so dominant/invasive, that you can barely have a conversation at the table. I expect that at a club, not a restaurant. Result being we never go back. There’s plenty of other places to try.

  21. Keren October 1, 2015 at 11:26 am

It’s very simple. High quality food (fishy thing a bonus), great company. good service and a pleasant location. Thank heavens it has cooled down so we can sit outside again, as that just feels so much nicer to me. Above all though, it’s the company that makes it.

  22. Michael Angelo Alacapa October 1, 2015 at 11:46 am

A Good brunch should be able to satisfy my eyes, ears, nose and tongue! From the over all ambiance, to the music and surroundings, a great smell to kick start my appetite and of course flavor and taste to create an amazing culinary experience!

  23. Brithi October 1, 2015 at 11:53 am

A good brunch means no dinner later in the day 🙂

  31. Xiao October 5, 2015 at 10:30 pm

There are 2 components as to what a good brunch means to me. To start off, Wikipedia defines brunch simply as a combination of breakfast and lunch eaten usually during the late morning but it can extend to as late as 3pm.

Although the stretched timeframe mentioned is definitely a major plus, the aspect that makes a brunch good or even perfect for me is the variety of food that is offered. This should not be limited to a mere amount of items which can be found on the breakfast or lunch menu, but include everything a human being could crave to consume within a day. A brunch which can make me feel like a medieval king at an immense banquet would work towards the vision of a perfect brunch. One example of these immense banquets was organized by the Count of Anjou, third son of King Louis II of Sicily and Legrand d’Aussy and consisted of 6 extended courses served over the timespan of an entire day!

The second important component of a successful brunch is the company I am with; whether this is a group of friends, my girlfriend or even better a combination of both. The quote which concurs best with my feelings is of Laurie Colwin, author of the book ‘Home Cooking’: “One of the delights of life is eating with friends; second to that is talking about eating. And, for an unsurpassed double whammy, there is talking about eating while you are eating with friends.”

  32. Greg P October 7, 2015 at 1:43 pm

The best brunch is with good high-end drink and LOADS of small portion sizes…I love to try as much as possible!

  33. Cathryn October 8, 2015 at 1:38 pm

    BRUNCH

B is for a beautiful setting and great ambience
R is for the reaction of friends and family as they go to their first brunch and experience the sight, smells and sounds
U is for unlimited choice of delicious food and lovely drinks
N is for gentle unobtrusive musical notes in the background
C is for courteous, helpful but not overly attentive service
H is for happy, relaxed and content customers!

  34. Naomi Rebello October 9, 2015 at 1:45 am

Quality over quantity and incredible desserts!

  35. Insiya October 11, 2015 at 12:35 am

A good brunch to me is all about good food revolving around a great concept, a delectable layout of food which makes one salivate & try everything on the table, along with awesome company to share the entire experience with. A good view is definitely a bonus!

  36. Rachel October 11, 2015 at 12:36 pm

A good brunch for me is all about the food quality and a relaxing pace. I don’t want mounds of ill-prepared buffet, but rather, smaller, well-prepared courses. Pair this with a long, leisurely pace to the food and drink (making a brunch a true afternoon out) and I’m sold!

  37. Michelle October 11, 2015 at 1:50 pm

A great brunch for me consists of the following combination:

Eating quality food in a nice setting with good Service, but the icing on the cake is spending quality time socializing with friends.

  45. Khushbu Gandhi October 12, 2015 at 2:01 pm

Brunch is perfect for me because I can sleep in till late without the guilt of not having fed the hungry souls of my family. Also, There’s no judgement in what sort of food I choose to eat, either! With brunch, I can indulge just a little bit more than usual: a latte with cinnamon, french toast with strawberry jam and whipped cream, pancakes with honey, and a plate of bacon.
