The Beach House at Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi

Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi – the breathtaking view from the pool to the beach

Abu Dhabi; Given many projects are delayed on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat island, the capital’s cultural hub one day inshallah, it’s most exciting to see new resorts springing up…well we have Formula One to thank. St Regis, Park Hyatt and Monte Carlo Beach Club have recently opened their doors.

On a recent tour of the island and its F&B, a certain little eatery caught FooDiva’s eye – The Beach House at the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi. Sitting on a wooden deck smack bang on Saadiyat beach front, with a hammock to the side, you can’t help but relax as you perch yourself on a pew with a bird’s eye view of the sea.

Whilst perusing the compact Mediterranean-inspired menu, steaming hot olive and rock salt infused bread arrives with a spicy capsicum dip and green olives – moreish. FooDiva’s tuna Nicoise salad was served with the egg poached and the tuna fillet beautifully seared. The salmon fillet was steamed but slightly more well done as we requested – sitting proudly on a bed of grilled vegetables with a scattering of caper flowers. Meanwhile the portobello mushrooms were sliced, topped with a breadcrumb gratin, and grilled. A dessert of strawberries, meringue and fresh cream was reminiscent of a traditional Eton Mess – but drowning in too much cream. Simple well thought through dishes, and bar dessert, executed perfectly – just what we needed for a casual and impromptu beach front lunch.

Whilst service was acceptable, the team appeared a little timid so a certain managerial presence wouldn’t have gone amiss.

It’s hard to get it wrong when the menu is concise and the location is simply spectacular. Let’s hope the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi can deliver an equally as good experience, if not better at its all-day buffet and a la carte restaurant The Cafe, and the dinner only The Park Bar & Grill. There’s only one way to find out. FooDiva will be back.

In the meantime, have you visited Saadiyat island and any of its resorts? What were your impressions?

The Beach House at the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi is located on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island (next to the St. Regis). T: +971 2 4071234 E: Restaurants.parkhyattabudhabi@hyatt.com Open daily from 10am to midnight. Licensed. Average price per head AED 100.

We lucked into the Park Hyatt the first week they were open and had the most glorious meal there. Wait staff were absolutely amazing. Maybe everyone was trying harder because it was all so brand new. We decided that we wanted to go back for a relaxing weekend and try out the other restaurants. Will let you know how it goes.
