Who’s the winner of this week’s Ramadan competition? Plus a product review and grand giveaway – brought to you by Braun

Dubai; So who takes home a Braun Multiquick cordless hand processor this week? The winner of the second round of our Braun Ramadan competition is Ayisha Kanwal who will be whizzing up good old fashioned mayonnaise. You most certainly need a strong processor to perfect this much loved condiment. Mabrouk! But FooDiva Friends don’t despair; read on, we have another giveaway up for grabs.

Braun Multiquick cordless hand processorSo how does FooDiva rate the Braun Multiquick? Firstly, I love the fact it’s cordless; simply grab it from the charging panel, insert it in a beaker full of ingredients, switch it on, and it whizzes away. Very ergonomic to hold too.

You can puree smoothies, soups, milkshakes, dips. Furthermore, by attaching the large chopper (pictured here) which has a one litre capacity, you can prepare sauces and batter, as well as chop up herbs, onions, hard cheese, chillies and nuts, crush ice and mince meat. Surely that’s enough? But Braun itself advises avoiding hard ingredients like nutmeg, coffee beans and grains. The processor is so damn powerful, you just gotta watch how much you pulse it – a couple of times is usually more than enough.

As for washing, all can be thrown into the dishwasher except the chopper gear box attachment. I love gadgets that are simple to use, and that ease the prepping time, and the Braun Multiquick ticks both boxes.

Click here for a Chef Osama Ramadan recipe for red lentil soup, using the Braun Multiquick of course.

And now for our third and final grand prize. Braun is offering one super lucky FooDiva Friend in the U.A.E, a hamper valued at AED 1,000 and brimming with…wait for this:

  • One Braun Multiquick cordless hand processor [7 MR 700]

Loads of kitchen work to be done as we’ll have a sizable number of guests. The lantern will certainly be a welcoming symbol and the fridge magnets will go a long way in helping to stick recipes on my already cluttered fridge 🙂

If I am the lucky one to get this Braun Hamper,it will double the fun of Eid plans,as after finishing with eid prayers, meeting and greeting with family and friends at home ,then in the night we have plans to go out in desert or in a park with the main arrangement of course food. I will prepare quick recipe of minced lamb cutlets by using Braun hand processor as it is ideal to use for picnics because we can charge battery and use it any where,so I will chop all ingredients in minutes at the spot and mix in minced meat and grill .Served with mint dip again chopped in Braun hand processor. I will prepare hummus , salad also in Braun hand processor .For the dessert I will prepare date and cream delight … its yimmy simply chopp the dates in Braun hand processor , beat fresh cream in the same, add vanilla essence, sugar and mix all well sprinkle with pine nuts, almonds , pistachios according to choice, And Chef Osama’s recipies can be of great use for the next day eid lunch or dinner with family and friends.

biryani it is and shall always be for time immemorial.
there is nothing like a chicken biryani for the iftar to break the fast.
the aroma wafting through before the fast is broken is indeed tantalising, mouth watering & gut wrenching.

Favorite Eid food would be “sheer khurma” (special sweet dish made of vermicelli and milk)its a Eid Ul Fitr specialty – other foods you eat on normal days too but this one remains as Breakfast dish with Qeema Kachori (mince meat Kachori)for this Special Day. and it is also a must Guest serving dish on Eid ul Fitr for us.

my holiday plan would be to spend this special day with family back home. Cause this festival is colorless without family

Eid is definitely a continuation of the food festivities experienced during Ramadan Iftars :)Starting with the family Eid prayers at the mosque followed by a traditional family breakfast consisting of hot parathas & spicy liver or kidney curry! Our Eid would be incomplete without a typical menu of mutton Biryani/ Mutton leg roast & sweet vermicelli! We are looking forward to have our friends and family over, I just love the buzz of laughter & warmth that they all bring to our home :)Thats what my Eid is all about, cooking & sharing not only the food but the love and hospitality that comes naturally with the advent of Eid! Hope I win this hamper,it would just add more joy to my already festive Eid celebrations!

  15. Sheryl carneiro August 15, 2011 at 12:13 am

  20. Brenda August 15, 2011 at 3:52 pm

My favorite Eid food is my mother’s falafel. She would make them to order on Eid, when our house was constantly full of guests. They were so fluffy, crunchy, and delicious. The Braun machine would be great for blending the broad beans for the falafel dough. Thanks for sharing this giveaway!

  21. Rishana August 15, 2011 at 6:41 pm

  22. Jackson Dsouza August 16, 2011 at 2:08 am

During my Eid holidays, I would be traveling to the land of chocolates & cuckoo clocks – that’s Switzerland. This Eid in particular would be extra special to me, as my beloved wife & I would be celebrating our very 1st wedding anniversary. I am so lucky to be able to celebrate 2 beautiful occasions – i.e. Eid & our Anniversary in a country as beautiful as this. I would certainly miss the lovely food of the UAE during Eid, but would get to taste some lovely Swiss cuisine & chocolates, and maybe take a few pointers & include these dishes in my next Eid menu 🙂

  23. Saifan August 16, 2011 at 3:12 pm

Salam! This Eid like everyother Eid will be filled with our relatives and friends. All will be awaiting the for the yummy dishes prepared by mom especially special muslim recipe “Sheerkhurma”. In lunch we have Mutton Nihari along with Shahi Rice. Believe Me! Its just Yum!. And the evening goes out with the guests in some new restarant to be tried out. The next day of eid holidays will go in for picnic. Wow! waiting for the eid to come.

  24. Delaine Dcosta August 16, 2011 at 8:56 pm

I am eagerly looking forward to this Eid because my grandmother would be coming to visit us. I saw her last, exactly a year ago during my wedding in India. And now, she would be spending 3 whole months with us here. Before my marriage, I had never stepped into a kitchen. But, now I am excited to show her my culinary expertise & the tasty dishes I can cook such as Chicken Biryani, Kofta & trifles. I’m also cooking forward to eat some traditional dishes prepared by her & take some cooking tips from her. Grandma knows best !

  25. Priscilla August 16, 2011 at 11:32 pm

I can’t wait for Eid and the long weekend.

  26. Fahad Shalabi August 16, 2011 at 11:52 pm

On the first day of Eid, I wake up early in the morning and put on new clothes (or the best available). I usually have a small breakfast (as a sign of not fasting on that day). Then I am off to give an obligatory charity, which is paid to the poor and the needy before performing the Eid prayer.

After prayers, I visit relatives, friends and acquaintances. We usually have lunch and dinners throughout the 3 day festivities. Watch out though!! don’t over indulge as you can gain a lot of weight if you’re not careful.

I also tend to give gifts on Eid to children and immediate relatives; but in most cases I opt to give small sums of money instead as it is easier than buying a gift for a child during Eid.

A common greeting during this holiday in Arabic is “Eid Mubarak”.

So I take this opportunity to wish you All Eid Mubarak.

  27. Maura August 17, 2011 at 2:07 am

This Eid, I am inviting friends over for lunch and I am cooking Arabian spiced rack of lamb with couscous and Chef Osama’s Red Lentil soup, which is now one of my favorite recipes. Followed by a light desert of seasonal fruits and ice cream. One of the simplest pleasures in life is sharing good food with loved ones.

  28. Alisher August 17, 2011 at 3:07 pm

Me and my friends plan to go out of town this coming Eid. This is a good way to relax and spend quality time since we are always busy with work and almost not finding time to meet on regular basis. We are excited that this year’s Eid is expected to fall during weekdays which means longer holiday for us.

I would love to win the Braun kitchen equipment as it really helps with easy cooking.

  29. Gail Westley August 17, 2011 at 3:11 pm

I will spend Eid with my husband, daughter, 2 brother in laws, sister in law, father & mother in law. We will be all going on a boat trip and to Wild Wadi, and probably go somewhere nice for a meal. Please, please pick me 🙂

Where I come from a new bride is traditionally expected to throw her first official ozouma (dinner party) after a few years of marriage; a period deemed sufficiant for her to practice and try her hand at different dishes and to hopefully master various culinary skills such as rolling the neatest stuffed vine leaves and making a lump-free bechamel sauce.
And although my dear husband has witnessed the many ups and downs of my cooking ventures during the past few years and has always given me an honest opinion, I somehow consider this “ozouma” as an initiation rite into the fascinating & grown-up world of entertaining. So you can only imagine how relieved I was to find so many great ideas and recipes on Foodiva.net especially those by my favourite chef: Chef Osama and his traditional festive arabic recipes which are just what I need for this special day, and I have to tell you Foodiva that your choice of dishes is impeccable! I am proud to share with you my menu for that Eid ozouma to which our family will be invited: Firstly the meal will start with Chef Osama’s delicious Red lentil soup (simple and truly delicious) and my signature Warak Einab (Stuffed Vine leaves) which I believe would make a great beginning to the meal. Secondly there will be the traditional Kabsa rice which I will serve with roasted duck, based on my adaptation of Foodiva’s adaptation of Chef Mireille Giuliano’s recipe for Tasty Turkey :O) For dessert, I will pour the Mohalabia in a deep dish over slices of tea-cake topped with canned-mixed fruit and sprinkle some cinnamon, nuts and raisins on top just like my dearest mum used to make it. Foodiva team.. I can’t thank you enough for all the inspiration, confidence and help you have provided me with for this special day. Wish me luck, cos once I successfully get through my first official ozouma, there will be nothing to stop me now!
    :O)

Life has always been easy with braun as it saves lot of time, well though i am great foodie but beleive that during ramadan we should take more and more fluids which can keep us hydrated and light on tummy too and i believe whatever we do we do for ourselves but dont you think during this holy period, we should be kind and generous to those who are really needy and poor, So I appeal to all my brother and sister that the real fun of food what we eat comes only after donating whatever u can , the taste of your food and life enhances,
