Dubai’s best pizza? Emporio Armani Caffé

Emporio Armani CafeDubai; Wanna know where to find Dubai’s best pizza? Well ‘best’ according to FooDiva that is. I’ve tweeted and Facebooked this particular pizza before, so it’s about time I posted a review.

It’s none other than…[Drum roll]…the Napoli pizza at Emporio Armani Caffé in the heart of Mall of the Emirates.

Now even though pizza is synonymous with Italian cuisine, its origins can be traced back to the Ancient Greeks where a yeast-less flat bread was baked with veggie toppings. Slowly but surely it found its way to Naples in Italy where the poor started adding tomato to the flat bread in the late 18th century creating the first versions of pizza. Remember the scene from Eat Pray Love with Julia Roberts’ pizza frenzy? Well that’s Da Michele pizzeria in Napoli. If you fancy a detailed history lesson on the origins of pizza, naturally Wikipedia will shed more light.

Emporio Armani Caffe's Napoli pizza

Emporio Armani Caffe’s Napoli pizza

FooDiva’s a bit of a purist, so if you’re gonna have pizza better stick to the original Napoli. Emporio Armani Caffé’s pizzas excel cos not only are they wood-fired as true pizzas should be, but the pizza base is simply skinny, crispy and crusty and the Napoli is topped with mozzarella, anchovies, capers and authentic Napolitana tomato and virgin olive oil sauce. You either love or hate anchovies, and FooDiva can’t live without them…a few anchovies embedded in the sauce just give it that extra robust edge – look at them bubbling away….bellissima!

Emporio Armani Caffe's Barbonica pizza

Mind you I have eaten my way through the pizza menu, and the Barbonica also stands out; crust stuffed with ricotta, and topped with slithers of buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and rokka.

Now there’s plenty of other Italian dishes on the menu, but frankly don’t be tempted to steer away from pizza, you’ll regret it. FooDiva’s even been known to order take-away, marching through the mall with the discreet Emporio Armani pizza packaging to the mini and chez moi for a glass of vino. Yes it’s not licensed unfortunately.

Emporio Armani Caffé is a haven of tranquility hidden at the end of the mall’s Rodeo Drive, just under Momo’s, another FooDiva fave. Napoli pizza AED 70 for a 30 cm pizza (one size only). The pizza’s too good to share so order your own.

But if you’re after delivery, you gotta go for N_K_D Pizza.

Emporio Armani Caffé at Mall of the Emirates. Open daily from 10am to 11.30pm. T; +971 4 3410591.

So tell me, what’s your favourite pizza joint?

Ciao for now. Have a fabulous weekend.

OMG. Not that I doubted you, but I can totally see why you were raving about it. Gosh that looks just like I want my pizza to look.

But as we’ve said before, it’s a tad sad that one has to go to an Armani cafe to have good pizza like that. But I am going to have to try this!

I believe 800 PIZZA has the best pizza/Italian food in the U.A.E!! It reminds me of when I was in Italy- pizza is thin, not heavy, satisfying and healthy! There pasta is oustanding as I tried this new pasta they have….Gragnano pasta…apparently it absorbs the sauce due to the way it is made- got me addicted! I had their pasta 4 days in a row!

I can promise that no one will be disappointed when having 800 PIZZA. It is better to sit at the restaurant and have dinner as you can feel a more Italian atmosphere along with the great food that comes with it.
