Vivel – a cuppa anyone?

Dubai; As you must know by now, FooDiva has a weakness for all things tea-like, so when I spotted Vivel’s new tea shop and patisserie at Dubai Mall, with its highly enticing store front I had to pop in for a cuppa (with sister in tow). It’s not just a shop, but also a teeny cafe, where you can rest your manicured toes after the umpteen-kilometre shopping mall trek.

I was drawn to the extensive library-like display of teas – the menu allows you to choose from numerous black, green and white teas. We opted for a pot of white Chinese tea flavoured with peach, pear and exotic fruits by the name of ‘White Castle’ – the menu stipulates steeping for nine minutes at 75 degrees – all taken care of by the waiter, in that lovely, typical Dubai style. White silver tip tea is probably my favourite tea at this moment in time – well until I discover a new tipple. And this one had just the perfect hint of fruitiness without overpowering the flavour.

Having had lunch earlier at Lafayette Gourmet, followed by one of Kitsch’s divine red velvet cup cakes, all I could stomach was a lemon sugar delight (I’d like to call them Cypriot, but commonly known as Turkish delights). Infact they are produced locally by the Iranian owner. My sis enjoyed her freshly baked carrot cake, but it certainly looked nothing like Lime Tree’s.

Vivel has FooDiva’s stamp of approval, so do drop by when you’re in need of a cuppa. Oh by the way it does of course serve coffee too. It’s on the same strip as Bloomingdale’s home floor – and a short stroll from the magical fountains.

A bientôt.

Honey when you’re here, forget the tea, it will be bubbles galore! x
